Students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) had their talents put on display Saturday as the university’s Student Union Government (SUG), in collaboration with Blayzehub, hosted the Campus Talent Fest at the Faculty of Science Twin Auditorium on June 13, 2026.

Campus Talent Hunt

The campus talent Hunt is an event purposefully set up to encourage creativity, and encourage its expression by blazehub. It had its first two episodes at Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, and Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) respectively. The Campus Talent Hunt FUOYE, which featured music and dance competitions, drew a large and enthusiastic audience, though it kicked off later than scheduled. The red carpet session was slated for 1:00 p.m. and the main programme for 2:00 p.m., but venue setup delays and technical difficulties pushed the actual start time to approximately 3:30 p.m., by which time a sizeable crowd had already gathered. Following an opening prayer and a brief address by judge Emmanuella, the competition got underway with the first round of performances. Ten contestants took the stage — seven in the music category and three in dance. Music contestants included Faith Sings, Wisdom, AG Supreme, Topilee, Farnandio, Mide Philips, and Segun, while the dance category featured MJ Blaze, The Incredible Steppers, and Special Dancers.

Assement and Award

Contestants were assessed on their costumes, stage presence, performance quality, and audience reaction. The crowd proved an active participant throughout, responding to performances with loud cheers and applause. Between contestant slots, audience members also seized the opportunity to perform, with Ayo Is Active, Triumph, Suspect, and Melody among those who stepped forward. At the end of the opening round, five contestants were eliminated. Mide Philips, The Incredible Steppers, Faith Sings, Wisdom, and MJ Blaze advanced to the next stage. As the competition intensified, judge Blitze urged contestants to raise their game for the final round — and they delivered. Performances improved noticeably, and the dance category ended in a tie, forcing a one-on-one dance-off to separate the finalists. After deliberations by the four-member judging panel — comprising Blitze, Emmanuella, Tolu of Blayzehub, and Dave the Voice — the winners were announced in a suspense-filled climax. Wisdom claimed victory in the music category, while The Incredible Steppers took the dance title. Each category winner is to receive a cash prize of ₦200,000.

Closing and Reactions

In his closing remarks, Judge Blitze revealed that the Campus Talent Fest is not a new initiative. The first edition was held at Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, the second at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), and the FUOYE edition marked the third stop on what is described as an ongoing campus tour powered by Blayzehub. He added that the tour is expected to return to FUOYE next year. Reactions from attendees reflected the mixed experience of the day. Nora Abayi, who attended as a guest, expressed satisfaction with the event overall but did not hold back on the timing. "I was invited by a friend, and he told me the event would start by 2 p.m. I got here after 3 p.m., and they had still not started. That was annoying, but aside from that, everything was good," she said. One of the contestants, Faith Alonge, a 100-level student, described a more challenging experience behind the scenes. She said technical difficulties with the DJ and a lack of communication about the number of performance rounds left her flustered. "I thought there would be just one performance. Despite the challenges, it was a nice experience. For the first time, I got to perform in front of an audience in a competition setting rather than my usual singing in church," she said. On how the collaboration came together, Dave the Voice explained that Blayzehub approached him on account of FUOYE’s strong online presence. Contestants registered and submitted entry videos online while tagging the SUG, Blayzehub, and Dave the Voice. Votes were also gathered at ₦50 per vote, with subsequent eliminations producing the finalists. Reflecting on the outcome, Dave the Voice expressed confidence in the future of all who participated. "FUOYE has talent, and I’m happy that I could help showcase it. I’m confident that these talents, both the winners and the other participants, will gain more visibility going forward," he said, also extending gratitude to everyone present. With the Campus Talent Fest wrapping up its third edition on a high note, FUOYE’s creative community appears to have made a strong case for the university’s place on the tour’s future map.
