Returning students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) will resume for the 2026/2027 academic session on Monday, October 5, 2026, following weeks of uncertainty over the academic calendar amid discussions between the Students' Union Government and the university management on tuition fees.

This was contained in a circular dated September 24, 2026, and signed by the Registrar, Muftau Ibrahim, which stated the approved resumption date for students in 200 to 500 levels.

“University Management has approved Monday, 5th October, 2026 as the resumption date for returning students (200 - 500 Levels) for the 2026/2027 academic session,” the circular stated.

However, this latest announcement follows an earlier resumption date communicated by the institution for newly admitted 100-level students, who were scheduled to resume on September 21, 2026.

The announcement of October 5th as the resumption date for returning students comes after the SUG had addressed students on issues surrounding the delay in releasing the date for returning students on September 15th live broadcast.

According to the live broadcast published by the SUG president, Ajayi Olusegun, the union was engaged by the university management to discuss the proposal of a thirty percent increment in 2026/2027 school fees, an Enterprise Resource Package (ERP) fee, and the academic calendar.

Following this, the union has said that they had opposed the 30% increment of tuition fees and the sum of twenty thousand naira (₦20,000) ERP charge proposal by the school management, while expressing concerns about the financial implications of additional charges on students and their sponsors.

On September 24, the union issued a further statement on the outcome of its engagement with the university management, announcing that the university had agreed that there would be no increment in tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic session.

“Following these extensive deliberations, the University Management has graciously agreed that there will be no increment in tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic session,” the SUG stated.

This latest announcement therefore provides an official resumption date for returning students. Students in 200 to 500 levels are expected to resume on October 5, 2026, while newly admitted 100-level students had earlier been scheduled to resume on September 21.
