The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has officially recalled suspended Students' Union Government (SUG) President, Comr. James Adio Iyanuoluwa — popularly known as Ogbeni Adio — restoring him to his studentship and his position as SUG President.

The recall followed a University Senate sitting on Thursday, 25th June, 2026, and was communicated in an official letter signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Mufutau A. Ibrahim, with the subject "Recall from Suspension from the University." The letter confirms that the earlier suspension placed on the student leader has been fully lifted, clearing him to resume both his academic and elective responsibilities.

Adio's suspension, announced earlier in June, followed allegations relating to the unauthorized collection of practical fees from 100-level students. The development sparked widespread reactions within and outside the university community, drawing the attention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), student leaders, alumni, and other stakeholders, many of whom called for fairness and due process in the handling of the matter. Sources say NANS subsequently engaged the university management on the issue, a process that led to the matter being placed before the University Senate for review.

Following the Senate's decision, NANS President, Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Azeez — popularly known as Babtee — announced on his official X account that Comrade Adio had been reinstated, describing the outcome as a victory for dialogue and justice.

News of the recall has been warmly received within the SUG executive council, with members of the cabinet massively resharing the announcement across social media platforms and expressing excitement over Adio's return.

SUG Director of Transport, Musa Akinode — popularly known as Musa Oloko — said the outcome vindicated his confidence in the process: "I have always said it that it shall not stand and it did not stand." SUG Public Relations Officer, David — popularly known as Dave D Voice — also welcomed the development, describing it as a relief for the cabinet: "I really am excited about the return of the bus driver of the Better Days Cabinet himself."

The recall has been met with celebration among many FUOYE students, particularly supporters of the Students' Union President, who have flooded social media with congratulatory messages and expressions of joy over his return.

Efforts by UCJ FUOYE to reach Comrade Adio directly for his comment were unsuccessful as of press time. This report will be updated should he respond.

As Comrade Adio resumes office, members of the university community have expressed hope that the development will foster unity, responsible leadership, and a renewed commitment to serving the interests of FUOYE students.
