By Ojolowo Oluwatobiloba Ezekiel | UCJ FUOYE Senator Kayode-Williams Oluwaseun Mercy has emerged as the first female President of the Education Student Association of Nigeria (ESAN), FUOYE. The development was confirmed by the Independent FUOYE Electoral Commission (IFEC) in an official result released this evening, dated July 31, 2026.
Favour, a student 300 level student of the Department of Business Education, previously served as a Senator representing the Faculty at the Students' Union Senate Council (SUSC) and has now emerged President of the Faculty in the just-concluded election. The victory marks a milestone, as she joins the ranks of past faculty leaders such as Sen.Comr Oluwasegun Dennis, Sen.Comr. Alex ThankGod who also rose from the Senate to the presidency.
Favour's win is also being seen as a hallmark of political inclusion for women, coming in an election many considered difficult to predict. FUOYE's recent political history has seen a growing number of female leaders in top student positions — among them the 7th SUG President, Comr. Olorunnishola Mary, who was also the first female SUG President of the school.
