The 100-level Anatomy students witnessed a change in leadership on May 21, 2026, following a departmental meeting convened by the President of the Anatomy Students Association (ASSON), Olaleye Temitope Oluwagbenga, popularly known as Dr. Achiever, over improper payment record of chemistry manual.
The meeting, which was attended by all 100-level Anatomy students as well as members of the departmental executive council, was called to address issues surrounding the distribution and payment records of chemistry manuals.
During the meeting, Dr Achiever addressed what he described as misconceptions regarding the handling of the manuals and subsequently announced the removal of the then class governor, Oluwajunwonlo Emmanuel Abejide, popularly known as Jigajor.
According to Dr. Achiever, the decision was based on concerns about leadership and responsibility. He stated that the former governor, Jigajor, had collected payments for chemistry manuals from several students but failed to properly record and collate the names of those who made payments. This, according to the president, resulted in confusion during the distribution process and the refunding of the chemistry manual payments.
Moving on, the ASSON President disclosed that he had assigned Jigajor the responsibility of compiling the names of students who had paid for the chemistry manuals. He stressed that a three-hour deadline was given for the task to be completed. However, the former governor did not carry the assignment as expected, which contributed to the executive body's conclusion that a change in leadership was necessary.
Following the announcement, a nomination process was immediately conducted to select a new class governor for the 100-level Anatomy class. Two students: Oluwadare Damola Israel and Akinyemi Halliyaht Eniola were nominated for the position.
Both nominees were given the opportunity to present impromptu manifestos before the students. After the presentations, members of the class cast their votes in a democratic election process conducted during the meeting.
At the conclusion of the voting exercise, Oluwadare Damola Isreal won and was officially announced as the new class governor of the 100-level Anatomy students.
This change marks a new chapter in the leadership of the class, with the 100 level students expressing hopes for improved coordination, accountability, and effective handling of payment records.
